April Ross
April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is one of a few female players of beach volleyball who have done so. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time in Tokyo's Olympics, will try to earn her third medal. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. At 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her final chance. Her optimism is that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross through NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing well or at all it could be able to win gold. Then I will also take the chance to have luck. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her mother, father and younger sister. Along with participating in a variety of sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits in her time as a college athlete. But she stood out at this level. When she played in her college volleyball season, according to her college bio, she was an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National players of the year. Additionally, in 2000, she was named Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross is playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before the year. The American has been a major winner in tournaments twice with different partners. The other has become an icon in the volleyball world. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 to 2013. She also coached Klineman and herself. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships in 2009. The pair eventually picked up an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team that could take home the gold. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They won the beach volleyball bronze in the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC throughout her college years before becoming a professional. And her run in the Trojans' ranks was a memorable one. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of award and become an All-American. The Trojans were also able to reach the Final Four with her help. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore season however she was able to return her place as an All-American. In the two years she played for the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. She had established herself as an all-time great having won the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross studied International Relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001. Ross was still in the midst of being a USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. However, she keeps her mother in her heart. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her on and off the beach.
